DIVERSITY OF LIFE!
The Diversity of Life Unit is an exciting few months of your seventh grade year! It is composed of very important information to give you a solid foundation about biology. We will be learning about what defines "LIFE". What makes something "LIVING" or not? What does it mean to be ALIVE??
We will then go into cellular biology: what is a CELL? We will compare different types of cells. Cells can make up only ONE organism, or they can be part of a larger, living system of an organism like you! We will be using microscopes for these activities so you can see real living types of cells.
We will compare different structures of living things: like plant vs. animal. We wil also look at the processes that go on inside the cells of living things. You will learn about "cellular respiration" and "photosynthesis".
You will also investigate the kingdoms of life! Yes, there are more living things out there than just good old reliable plants and animals!
