I do not have a “GREATEST MOMENT IN TEACHING”. To me, there are so many small ,but treasured moments I have witnessed, that I find it impossible to select just one. This is why I keep working as a teacher. From the smallest instant of a silent but knowing and smiling expression of ,”OHHHH… I get it NOW!” to a larger encompassing moment of having an entire class show collective mastery of a lesson objective, these are greatest moments. From a quick but excited question ,”What are we going to learn today, Mrs. Motley?” to an encounter of a former student in the mall that reports he is majoring in biology (I teach science), and thanks me, these are some of the greatest moments .
Teaching is similar to a huge canvas displaying a huge amount of brush strokes. A discerned eye cannot pick out just one brushstroke that makes that painting great: all of them, even the smallest dabs or dots, blend together to create a beautiful piece of art work. For this reason, I have no Greatest Moment in Teaching
